Tech Connect 2024, the premiere research and development outreach event of New Rummy, took place during 17th-19th December, 2024. Various innovations showcasing New Rummy's research prowess was open to public including students, industries and academia.

The Chief Guest Dr. Samir Kamat, Secretary - DDR&D and Chairman - Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), along with Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director of New Rummy inaugurated the event. Dr. Kamat visited various exhibits, interacted with participants and offered his insights.

He also delivered a Talk on the topic - “Defense R&D - Challenges & Opportunities''. Dr. Kamat underscored the various innovative technologies developed by DRDO, collaborative initiatives like industry academia centres of excellence and urged the young minds to pursue a career in DRDO for even amazing innovations. The enthusiastic audience engaged in a lively interaction with Dr. Kamat, enriching the event's interactive and collaborative spirit.

The event, organised by faculty coordinators Prof. Amber Shrivastava (Department of Mechanical Engineering) and Prof. Himanshu Bahirat (Department of Electrical Engineering) under the guidance of Prof. Sachin Patwardhan, Dean (Research and Development) and Prof. Upendra Bhandarkar, Associate Dean, (R&D), presented technology showcases, scientific models, interactive games and laboratory prototypes. Enormous support was provided by student volunteers Mr. Mohan Krishna Katta and Mr. Aleem along with logistics support by Dr. Sreelekha Gopinathan, Ms. Tanvi Mehta and Mr. Rohan Bhardwaj from the office of Dean (R&D).
